Reviews about King's Highway

I like the fact that it's a remodelled Denny's diner, the staff are pretty nice, the interior is cool. I really wanted to like King's Highway a lot more but the food is just so painfully mediocre :(

We were staying at the hotel so tried various meals at various times. Everything was merely edible, nothing stood out. Burgers and sandwiches lifeless and lacking seasoning. Breakfast way behind other Ace venues. Entrees portions very small.

And who on earth charges $12 for JUICE??!! To the best of my knowledge - nobody else on earth. Even the Claridges hotel in London offers juice with a more sensible price tag.

This place is on the right track but there's lots of room for improvement. I'd give 2.5 stars if I could, 3 is generous.

It's not often I have complaints about a place I visit because I either resolve my issues with management at the time of the bad occurrence, or I understand the problem (such as under-staffing) and work around the problem by visiting during less busy times.

Sadly, this is a review for which there is no solution. There is just nothing I can eat on the menu for this restaurant. Well, to be fair, I could probably ear the eggs with some toast, but that's about it.

Go on their website and look at their menu Everything on it is weirdified. You should probably be a fan of healthy food to love their menu. I'm just a fan of Denny's, and for that reason, the "Avocado Toast" doesn't sound good at all: Sunflower levain (what is this?) soft boiled egg, hibiscus radish, sprouts. See, when a word isn't even in my spell check, I get suspicious. Levain: A type of fermentation. Should I really need Google to order my breakfast? The only thing I like in the above is the egg. And by the way, that egg and toast concoction above is $13.00 as of March 2017.

Let's try again. A $19 burger called Cortez the Killer: 3 x wagu patty, idiazabal, fried onions, date jam, oxtail jus. Break out Google again for the idiazabal, only this time, YOU look it up because I am OVER IT.

Pretentious menus that can't just describe WTF they are serving without a dictionary are just too much work for me, and besides, even if I knew that idiazabal WAS a type of cheese, how would I know if I liked it? And I sure know that oxtail doesn't sound very awesome.

So you know what? If you want to do battle with the menu at King's Highway, you and your Oxford Dictionary go have fun with it. For me, there is a plethora of restaurants in walking distance of The Ace that have food I can easily read and understand without the pretense and weirdness.

They get two stars for having a young, energetic staff who tries hard with the menu they have been burdened with, and for clean bathrooms.
